The owners of this property are Rashmi Bharti and Rajnish Jain, who have been married since 1990. They decided to shift to magnificent Kumaon Himalayas in 1990s and made this place their home. They love nature and believe in a healthy, holistic lifestyle that includes vegetarian food, yoga, and a simple way of living. The cottages were designed and built by them to fulfill their dream of a modern Kumaoni home made with local material and artisans.

Rashmi and Rajnish co-founded Avani, a non-profit working with development and dissemination of appropriate technology and livelihood opportunities in rural Kumaon. Avani supports the development of sustainable livelihoods for the local rural communities living in the Kumaon hills. Rajnish is an avid trekker and has interest in yoga.

They lived at Snow View Cottages for over 10 years, and now live at the Avani Center, which is located 100 kilometers north-east of Paparsali.
